Inventions

Inventions that made life much better!

Cell Phones: In 1973 Dr. Martin Cooper was the first man to create a cell phone that did not need to be powered by a car. It was the first time that anybody made a call from a cell phone. The invention of the cell phone was also in 1970 when at&t had the idea to separate phone service in different areas across the cities and call it cells. It was necessary to make cell phones liter and more mobile so that communication could spread across the country and with at&t financing the amazing cell phone was created. This was a huge invention that has changed the world today. Although the cell phones were an invention from the 1970s it was not available for the public until the 1980s. (Bbjjcc94. "The History of the 'Mobile Phone!'")

The Post It:In the 1970s Arthur Fry created the Post-It. The post it was first thought out to be a bookmark when Fry needed one that would not fall out, leave any residue or would not tear up or damage the page. He found out that some scientists had developed an adhesive that would stick to a surface and could be removed without residue and repositioned. When Fry took control of this knowledge he attached it to the edge of a piece of paper and thus the Post It was born. Then he noticed that many more things could be done with the Post It like writing down things that were important to a specific document or file so he had a huge demand when he started production in the 70s and after a huge demand the Post It changed the world making the Post It today be a major aspect of almost each job in the planet. The Push Tabs on Cans: In the 1970s Daniel F. Cudzik, of Reynolds Metals in Richmond Virginia, created the push tabs in cans. This was a replacement for the pull-tabs, which were pretty dangerous because some people dropped it accidentally into the beverage and sometimes causing choking hazards. This was a huge invention that changed the soda and food company because it provided a safer way of consumption and a method that made drinking a soda or beverage a better experience. The push tab consists of a scored region on the lid of the beverage that may be pushed in by a metal lever that is placed on top of the can. Stay push tabs almost completely replaced the pull tabs by 1980 and is still used today because it provides a much better way of consuming a beverage that may have been your last with the pull tabs. This is relevant because it is an invention that is standing almost 50 years later and it is something that not many people realize or give importance to. (Williams, Betty. "Beverage Can.")
